DESCRIPTION:Presenter: William J. Gold\, P.E.\, Senior Engineer – American Concrete InstituteHosted by the ACI Singapore Chapter \n\n\n\nCompressive strength tests are used for concrete acceptance based on criteria defined in ACI 318 and ACI 301. Tests results not meeting these criteria are referred to as low strengths. This presentation covers the “low strengths” topic in detail and provides answers to questions such as: what is considered a strength test and what is not\, what the minimum frequency of testing is\, what the acceptance criteria for strength tests are\, and how to investigate strength tests not meeting the acceptance requirements. In addition\, steps needed by a concrete supplier\, in case acceptance criteria are not met\, will also be discussed. To better understand discussed concepts\, the presentation will use statistical concepts and numerical examples. A list of reading resources will be provided for those interested to study it in more detail. ASTM C138/C138M-23: Density (Unit Weight)\, Yield\, and Air Content (Gravimetric) of Concrete.5. ASTM C231/C231M-22: Air Content of Freshly Mixed Concrete by the Pressure Method.6. ASTM C173/C173M-23: Air Content of Freshly Mixed Concrete by the Volumetric Method.7. ASTM C31/C31M-23: Making and Curing Concrete Test Specimens in the Field. \n\n\n\nACI\, USA headquarters will ship the Written Examination Question Paper Sets to ACI – Singapore Chapter on specific request\, and upon completion of the Theory Examination\, the Answer Scripts together with the Question Papers will be returned to Certification Body\, ACI\, USA\, for marking and compiling of the results.  \n\n\n\nFor successful Certification it is mandatory to Pass both Written Examination and Performance Test. To Pass the Written Examination the examinee must score 60% or higher in each of the Seven Written Subsets\, and Score 70% or higher on the overall Written Examination. To pass the Performance Examination one must pass all the Seven ASTM Subtests in ONE Session. Those who fail to demonstrate all the Subtests even after Three attempts will be re-examined on an another mutually convenient day and time. \n\n\n\nACI\, USA will forward the ACI Certificate together with Wallet Card (Only to those who Pass both Written Examination and Performance Test) and Certification Result Report directly to the mailing address provided by the Examinees.
